Career Prospects

Law – A Modern Outlook : In his book ‘The Lawyer’, Martin Mayer describes Law School as the ‘crown jewel’ of the educational system, in part because Law School is the ‘last generalist professional degree’. Today, law is a field of study that offers the recipient a wide range of career options, each requiring different skills but also possessing common characteristics. The options are endless in terms of practice areas and work environments. Lawyers might find themselves arresting a ship or zoning a playground, working independently in their home or with others in high rise corporate offices. Lawyers can practice law by helping clients plan to avoid problems, by solving problems once they develop, by representing and counselling businesses in a particular industry, by representing individuals sharing a common status or problems and by appearing (or not appearing) in court.

Law school teaches you to open your mind and think differently. This type of training is valuable in any career. Today, law is the pathway to financial rewards, intellectual stimulation, prestige, family influence, social change & career flexibility.

Opportunities on Graduation : Today, law plays a decisive role in every sphere of society. Be it the corporate sector, the defence forces, private litigation, legal advice in advertising, intellectual property - Lawyers have become an indispensable part of modern life.

Some of the exciting career options that are available to law graduates are: Legal officers in Corporate sector, Law officers with NGOs, Banking Sector, Teaching, Defence forces, Direct Entry Judicial Magistrates  & Private Practice
