Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA)

he College is conducting Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) course under PGCS, Gauhati University from the current academic year. The course design is carried out keeping in view the need of Computer knowledge University from the current academic year. The course design is carried out keeping in view the need of Computer knowledge or general graduates who wish to apply use of computers in their relevant fields of specialization or even work as programmers in small environments.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE :

The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) under distance mode shall be open to the graduates of any recognized Indian or Foreign University / Institute. Prescribed Application Form & Prospectus can be obtained in person from the College Office or from Office of the PGCS, Gauhati University, Guwahati-14 on payment of Rs. 100/-


FEE STRUCTURE :

The Course fee for the PGDCA shall be Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) per annum inclusive of Admission Fee, Course materials fee, Postal charges and minimum recommended hours of Practical classes fees.The Fees are payable either in one installment for both semesters or in maximum two equal installments of Rs. 5,000/- for each Semester. Examination Fee of Rs. 1,000/- per examination is payable one month prior to the commencement of the examination.

The management of NEF College has decided to conduct PGDCA  classes 6 days in a week insted of weekend classes and the students desirous to avail the said opportunity will have to pay additional fee of Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred) only per semester towards Tuition Fee, Laboratory Charges & Electricity Charges etc. This facility is optional.

EXAMINATIONS:
There will be final examination at the end of each Semester. The Examinations (both theory and practical) will be held either at the Gauhati University or at the approved Study Centres. However, holding of examinations at the Study Centres shall depend upon the minimum number of students available at the particular centre. If the number of students in a particular study centre is not adequate, the students of the centre may be asked to appear at the nearest possible examination centre.

EXAMINATION RULES & REGULATIONS :
  1. Each paper shall carry 100 marks. The minimum marks required to pass in the Semester examinations shall be 40 percent in each paper separately. And 45% in aggregate in two Semesters for award for Diploma.
  2.  A failed candidate is eligible to re-appear in 1 (one) back paper the Semester examination provided, (a) the candidate successfully clears minimum 2 papers securing minimum 40% marks in aggregate i.e. total 80 Marks in a Semester.
  3. A candidate who could not appear or failed in the examinations will be allowed to clear the same in the subsequent examinations. A candidate will be allowed to clear a Semester examination in maximum three consecutive chances.

AWARD OF DIPLOMA:
A candidate will be awarded PG Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) on passing the two Semester examinations with 45% in Aggregate i.e. 270 marks in aggregate. A candidate securing 60% or above in aggregate shall be awarded first class. Candidates securing 45% or above but less than 60% in aggregate shall be awarded Second class.

1ST SEMESTER

Paper-I

Computer Organization and Architecture (Theory – 100 marks)

Paper-II PC Software      (Practical – 100 marks)
Paper-III

Programming in C++ and Data Structure  (Theory – 70 marks, Practical – 30 marks)

2ND SEMESTER

Paper-IV

Basics of Software Engineering   (Theory – 75 marks, Practical – 25 marks)

Paper-V

Database Management System   (Theory – 75 marks, Practical – 25 marks)

Paper-VI

Introduction to Computer Networks and Web Technology, Computer Networks (Theory –50 marks) Web Technology (Theory – 30 marks Practical – 30 marks)
